Fourteen-year-old Christopher witnesses the beheading of Charles the First and flees to Ireland to join the army being rallied under his godfather. There he becomes involved in the events that lead to the Roundhead Massacre of the Irish and their Cavalier defenders at famous battle of Drogheda. With excellent historical detail, this is a story for the ages for readers age 12 and above, and anyone interested in the English Civil War and Irish history.
